Hernandez's fiancée, Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez, addresses the question in an interview with Dr. Phil McGraw on Tuesday's episode of Dr. Phil.

According to the Associated Press, Jenkins-Hernandez says the former tight end for the New England Patriots was upbeat during their last phone conversation, a day before Hernandez's bod was found in his prison cell.

The former National Football League athlete hanged himself last month in a MA prison cell where he was serving a life sentence for murder.

Hernandez's April 19 suicide came just days after he was acquitted from a 2012 double murder. Further publicized details pertaining to his death indicate that Hernandez also shoved cardboard into his cell door to make it more hard for guards to enter his cell.

The Department of Correction and the Worcester County District Attorney's Office have released over 100 pages of investigative records detailing substantial evidence that he took his own life. The host later asked if the couple's 4-year daughter, Avielle Janelle Jenkins-Hernandez was "entitled to that estate, in your opinion?"

Hernandez had written three suicide notes: one to Jenkins-Hernandez, another to his four-year-old daughter and now, Newsweek reports, one to his jailhouse beau Kyle Kennedy, 22.

Describing a suicide note found in his cell, she told Dr. Phil, "I did see that it was addressed to "Shay" instead of you know babe or bae, the way he would refer me as - that was a little odd to me". A judge vacated his conviction last week, citing a seldom used MA law.

"It seemed well thought out; in a sense none of it is very believable to me".

She said she spoke with Hernandez on the telephone the night before his death and "there was no indication at all" that he was thinking about taking his life, since it seemed like a "completely normal" conversation. I think that if he would have done something like this, it would have been at his worst, and I felt like it was looking so bright.

She repeated comments she made on the stand during his murder trial in the death of Lloyd, telling McGraw she would "pick and choose her battles" with Hernandez.

Jenkins-Hernandez also said she doesn't think Hernandez was a gang member. "She thought daddy was at work. she knows nothing about jail, prison".

She also said that while the note left behind by Hernandez for her was a "note of love", it was not personal or intimate. "And that was it", she said. "I can read it over and over again and still in the same place as when I first read it", Jenkins Hernandez said. He usually called her either Babe or Bay, she said. "There were some odd parts where it just didn't make sense".
