Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with left shoulder rotator cuff inflammation, the team announced on Sunday morning. The Yankees also recalled Chad Green.

Chapman had a MRI on Saturday, a day after getting just two outs and giving up a run in the ninth inning of a 5-1 loss to Houston. Chapman was checked by a trainer after allowing a two-out, run-scoring single to Josh Reddick.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Sunday that Donohue told him about a half-hour after that game that Chapman reported pain.

NY said in a statement that Chapman has rotator cuff inflammation in his left shoulder.

Chapman, 29, has seven saves with a 3.55 ERA in 12 2/3 innings and 21 strikeouts in 14 appearances.

To win away against Everton is not easy and it was a great result but we have to continue in this way - go step by step. Arsenal sit in sixth and six points below fourth-place Manchester City though have a game in hand.

"I saw that too", Girardi said of Chapman shaking his arm.

After the season, Chapman returned to the Yankees, signing a five-year deal worth $85 million dollars (77 million euros).

Chapman has not been the same closer since returning to NY this past offseason by signing a record five-year, $86 million deal after being dealt to the Cubs midway through the 2016 season and helping them win the World Series.

Most fans thought that Chapman's arm was ready for some type of injury after the heavy workload with his one-of-a-kind rocket arm the last few seasons.

With the absence of Chapman, it appears Dellin Betances will close, Tyler Clippard will pitch the eighth, and Adam Warren will pitch the seventh.
