Exiting NAFTA would be a major break from decades of US trade policy, and it's unclear whether the order would been intended as a serious threat to leave the pact or simply an effort to put the country's neighbors on notice that Trump intends to rewrite the rules of North American trade.

Meanwhile, a group of House members showed that they would keep up the pressure on Trump to use the NAFTA process to deal with dairy problems by sending the president a letter expressing appreciation for his statements criticizing Canadian dairy prices that have resulted in reduced us exports.

On the campaign trail, Trump regularly issued threats to the effect that he would seek a renegotiation of NAFTA. Could the meetings possibly have gone so well that Trump is now convinced China is going to help the United States on North Korean containment and is going to stop manipulating their own currency?

In an interview in the Oval Office, the Washington Post reports, Trump said: 'I was all set to terminate. He called it an honour to deal with both Pena Nieto and Trudeau, and said the end result will make all three countries stronger and better.

"Any disruption to the integrated supply chain that has been achieved under NAFTA could challenge the outperformance of the North American auto industry, including the potential job losses for some of the almost 2 million positions at plants in the United States, Canada and Mexico", the report said. He consistently cast the agreement - which was negotiated by President Bill Clinton, the husband of Trump's presidential opponent Hillary Clinton - as a raw deal for the middle class.

When it comes to the auto industry, Dias said Canada should be looking at more than the trade deal with the United States and Mexico.

"I like both of these gentlemen very much", Trump said. "We are relieved by the president's decision that the United States will work on improving the NAFTA rather than withdrawing from it, and we will continue to closely monitor negotiations as they move forward", said ASA President Ron Moore, a soybean farmer from Roseville, Illinois. I think we'll be successful in the renegotiation, which, frankly, would be good because it would be simpler.
