Strong to severe storms possible Thursday

Speaking of - the severe weather threats for tonight are high winds and large hail. That storm produced hail ranging in size of pebbles to tennis balls.

Large hail and damaging winds are the main threats but a few tornadoes are possible.

Some storms could linger and redevelop over the same region producing flash flooding.

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has put the KVOE listening area in a slight risk for severe weather this evening.

Spotty showers are expected this weekend with highs in the 50s and 60s. Thursday will bring highs in the low 70s. The ridge will break down and move eastward while another trough begins developing across the western half of the nation.

Thunderstorms are likely today. A trough of low pressure/dry line is expected to begin moving through during the afternoon hours, then a cold front late on Thursday night/very early on Friday morning. Day time temperatures will reach the 70s and 80s. South winds will remain at 15 to 25 miles per hour until later Thursday night when winds will shift out of the north.

Widely scattered showers and storms are possible this morning.
