Silva, De Bruyne orchestrate City's 5-0 win over Palace

"Hopefully David can enjoy this situation and enjoy our target to qualify for the Champions League".

"It was only 1-0 at the end of the first half, so it wasn't an easy game", he told Sky Sports. "It will be a big, big battle until the last game".

Biggest win Despite being without injured top scorer Sergio Aguero, City recorded its biggest league win under Guardiola, having often struggled to put away teams at home because of wayward finishing and sloppy defending.

"There is not another competition in the world with six strong teams fighting for one position - not in Spain nor Germany", Guardiola added. We are the best team in the Premier League to create clear, clear chances. Their last three games - Leicester, West Brom and Watford - are all teams who are pretty much on the beach.

"If we are to in a game every player has to be 100 per cent on song and you can say we were not 100 per cent against City", he said.

City failed to win the two Premier League games without him and the Spaniard showed what they have been missing without another outstanding performance before being substituted in the 68th minute.

Kick off is at 13:30. We went back to a four and we got better from that point of view. Pep also praised captain Vincent Kompany, who's made a sensational return from injury and played awesome football in recent weeks.

Guardiola's acknowledgement of Kompany's virtues perhaps marks a shift in his thinking as he has come to terms with the Premier League. One - at White Hart Lane.

"It doesn't matter what system you play, if you make mistakes like we did today, systems mean nothing".

"When the young, very talented players that we have in the team start running past me in training then I'll get anxious but so far (there's) no reason to panic", Kompany was quoted before City's 5-0 thumping of Palace. I'm sure we can drive them on to perform at that level more and more.

"It's normal, someone that's been successful that many times, you have one season where it's not going your way and people want to focus on it - that's what creates news and creates entertainment".

Guardiola has got used to seeing his side waste those sort of openings, and thought they would be punished again against Palace before their second-half goal glut.

Silva returned from a hamstring injury sustained during City's FA Cup semi-final defeat last month to open the scoring and turn in a virtuoso display, while De Bruyne took centre stage after the break with assists for centre-backs Kompany and Otamendi either side of a strike of this own.
