Washington, May 9 An American teenager has broken the world record for the most retweets, in a crusade to win a year's supply of his favorite food: chicken nuggets.

But now, 16-year-old Carter Wilkerson just topped it, all in a quest for free chicken nuggets from fast-food restaurant Wendy's.

Carter Wilkerson was retweeted more than 3.4 million times, breaking the record held by Ellen DeGeneres.

"If somehow you pass me Carter, I will come to your house, I will take that TV back, I will take the underwear back and do more". "A man needs his nuggs". Wendy's said that the goal was 18 million.

Carter told Wendy's to "consider it done" and the race for a viral post was off. "That's good for the nuggets and good for a $100k donation to [the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.] Consider it done". The teen's personal campaign quickly gained traction, however, with 3.47 million supporters (and counting) retweeting his request.

Heck, brands and companies like Wendy's dream of the kind of opportunity #NuggsForCarter would present, especially when those social media impressions gain ground on the likes of former President Barack Obama, One Direction, and the reigning queen of retweets, Ellen DeGeneres.

On the other hand, Wilkerson's tweet has been retweeted more than 3.42 million times, while his following on Twitter has grown from 138 followers to more than 100,000.

The charity is a Wendy's affiliated nonprofit that finds permanent homes for children in foster care.
