Close to half of India's petrol pumps mostly in the five south Indian states and parts of Maharashtra may remain shut on Sundays, starting May 14.

However, the decision might be a pressure tactics employed by the petrol dealers, for getting a hike, in commission on fuel sale, says reports.

In January, petrol dealers had called off a similar protest after oil marketing companies had assured dealers that their commission would be revised. The oil pump dealers have said that they will work just for eight hours in a day all over the nation post-May 10.
