Dodge Challenger Demon will have special mode for race fuel

The high octane provided by race gas can offer great benefits to racers on both the track and strip, which is why Dodge devised a way to throw the stuff into the Challenger SRT Demon. Of course, if you want to conquer the drag strip, then you need the right fuel for the job. Along with the jack and cordless impact wrench to swap on those skinny front wheels and tires, the crate will include a new Powertrain Control Module (PCM) calibrated for premium unleaded race gasoline, along with a new center console switch cluster that includes the High Octane fuel button.

Dodge tells us the high-octane fuel will be required to hit the car's maximum power rating, estimated to be well over the 707-horsepower rating of the Hellcat.

Mixing high-octane unleaded and premium unleaded fuels in the tank won't hurt the SRT Demon's engine, but the high-octane function won't activate if the combined fuel octane is too low.

Whichever route one chooses to take, odds are it won't be a cheap one; especially considering just about every feature on this vehicle is created to burn as much fuel as possible.

California governor declares end to drought emergency
Brown's declaration lifts the drought emergency in all California counties except Fresno, Kings, Tulare and Tuolumne. A year earlier, almost three-quarters of California was in "severe drought" or worse.

However, we will know the answer to all of our questions when the auto is released on April 11. It won't move to the more aggressive timing unless the knock sensors detect a proper amount of race gas.

The final teaser video before the Dodge Demon is finally revealed on April 11 has been released. Remember, nothing is a coincidence and everything means something.

You'll have to do a little work on the vehicle to get the benefit, and the highest horsepower, though just how many more horses the Demon will produce over the Dodge Challenger Hellcat's 707 has not been revealed.
