Trump more unpopular than Obama ever was

Trump won 62 percent of the white male vote in the 2016 presidential election and 61 percent of votes from people living in rural areas, according to CNN's exit polls. The poll also noted that a majority of men and a plurality of white voters disapproved of the president.

President Donald Trump's approval rating hit a new low in a Quinnipiac Poll this week, dropping below the worst rating his predecessor, Barack Obama, had ever received. The president's approval rating remained well underwater, with 56 percent of the respondents disapproving of his job performance.

Former President Barack Obama is more responsible than President Trump for the current state of the economy, voters say 66 - 18 percent, including 64 - 26 percent among Republicans. Only 27 percent say they are proud.

"President George W. Bush, who hit a negative 28-67 percent on May 14, 2008, had less support, but it took eight years, two unpopular wars and a staggering economy to get there". Mr. Trump receives the worst scores on honesty (61 percent don't think he is), level-headedness (66 percent), and on shared values with voters (61 percent).

The majority of those polled said Trump is keeping campaign promises, but 52 percent of voters said they are embarrassed to have him as president.

Thirty-five percent approve of Trump's job performance in the latest Quinnipiac University survey, while 57 percent disapprove and 8 percent are uncertain.

Meanwhile, 70 percent of Americans disapprove of how Republicans in Congress are doing, up six points from two weeks ago, and 57 percent disapprove of the Democrats' performance. Chuck Schumer, the Senate's minority leader, has a 25 percent approval rating and a 36 percent disapproval rating.

There's a trend when it comes to the president's approval rating, but it isn't one he will like.

Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,171 voters across the country from March 30 to April 9.
