Cosby Jury-Selection Set to Begin in May

Pennsylvania prosecutors contend that an anecdote in Cosby's memoir about trying to slip the substance to girls as a youth shows that he is open to drugging women for sex.

Prosecutors said they should be allowed to use excerpts from Cosby's autobiography and statements he made in a 1991 television interview, in which he described the power of an aphrodisiac called Spanish fly to put women in the "mood". Prosecutors are hoping to use Cosby's own words to show he knew how to incapacitate Constand - and meant to do so.

In the trial surrounding allegations of Cosby sexually assaulting a Temple university employee; he is reportedly facing 10 years in prison.

In court papers, defense lawyers argued Cosby's remarks were a form of artistic expression and social commentary.

Like numerous other women, Constand has accused Cosby of giving her pills in order to incapacitate her.

But O'Neill predicted that questionnaires mailed to peoples' homes would quickly end up on social media, and he expressed concern that family members or friends could influence the answers.

O'Neill did not immediately rule on the issue at a hearing Monday in Montgomery County.

Cosby's trial is slated to start on June 5, featuring a sequestered jury chosen from Allegheny County.

A week ahead of another court appearance, Bill Cosby's lawyers are attempting to limit evidence in his looming criminal trial.

The 79-year-old Cosby is accused of drugging and molesting a woman at his home in 2004. It's set to begin in early June, and last about 2 weeks.

With just two months left before trial, key arguments remain over what evidence can be introduced.

Cosby, long beloved as America's Dad for playing Dr. Cliff Huxtable on his sitcom "The Cosby Show" from 1984 to 1992, has called the encounter with Constand consensual.

Cosby's defense team wants the jury pool pre-screened through a written questionnaire on their background, media habits and feelings about Cosby. The jury should be allowed to consider the deposition since it provides a critical perspective "of an individual who freely admits to facilitating sexual assault by administering an intoxicant", Ryan added.
