Troubled outsourcing giant Capita has announced the departure of its chief executive as it revealed a 33pc fall in full-year profits.

Chief Executive Andy Parker will step down later this year and the company is starting a search for a successor, Capita said.

The changes to constituents will be applied after market close on March 17 and come into force the following trading day, March 20.

"2016 was a challenging year and Capita delivered a disappointing performance", admitted Parker today. "The bid pipeline of major contract opportunities remains active, and we are also seeing success in providing additional new, high value, replicable services to clients".
