Point guard Deron Williams, after clearing waivers over the weekend, is expected to be officially signed at some point on Monday by Cleveland. "He's a guy that can play with the ball, he can play off the ball". The Cavaliers now have 15 players under contract, with the recent additions of Deron Williams and Derrick Williams. "He's excited, so anytime you're a very good player and you get a chance to have a new start on a great team, it's something you look forward to, so he's very excited". The 7-foot Aussie was bought out by the 76ers after having arrived in a draft-day trade from the Mavs, who acquired center Nerlens Noel in the deal.

Williams, who is averaging 13.1 points and 6.9 assists per game, appears to be that point guard Cleveland has been searching for. Derrick Williams is now on his second 10-day contract but is expected to sign for the remainder of the season, sources said. Williams will account for the final spot on the roster.

Bogut spent five years with the Warriors before joining the Mavericks. Two Mavericks sources told ESPN's Tim MacMahon that they expect Bogut to choose Cleveland after he talks to interested teams. ESPN reported later Thursday that the Cavaliers, Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs were all planning to make a run at Bogut as long as he could convince the Sixers to set him free.

Abuse Survivor On Vatican Panel Quits Over "Resistance"
The sole Irish member of the Pope's child protection commission has stepped down, three years after joining the Vatican body. Collins didn't immediately respond to a phone request for comment. "They are a consultative commission", he said.

The former Warriors center will converse with the general managers and coaches from those teams tonight and early tomorrow, according to The Vertical's Shams Charania.

While adding Bogut wouldn't add much punch to the Cavaliers offense-he's averaging just 3.0 points per game-it could help Cleveland in the defensive and rebounding departments. "We're looking to be aggressive scoring the basketball, and also, taking the pressure off of LeBron to handle the ball the whole time with that second unit".
